Dolprasad Aryal, a member of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has been formally declared the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
On Sunday, senior lawmaker Arjun Narsingh KC officially announced Aryal’s election in the House session. Aryal had already been elected unopposed on Friday.
His candidacy was proposed by RSP Chair Ravi Lamichhane, who thanked other political parties for showing political respect to reach a consensus on their candidate. Supporters of Aryal included MPs Swarnim Wagle, Sobita Gautam, and Sunil Lamsal.
RSP Vice-Chair and Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle extended his congratulations, expressing confidence in Aryal’s experience in both executive and legislative roles. He praised Aryal’s poised and coordinated approach, saying, “He will fulfill the dignified role of the Speaker as the guardian of Parliament with utmost responsibility. His balanced coordination will benefit the upcoming parliamentary term.”
