Domestic flights across the country will not come to a complete halt on the day of the upcoming House of Representatives election. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has clarified that internal flights will be operated based on necessity and passenger demand during the election period.
According to the Authority, all types of domestic flights will be managed depending on passenger flow and operational requirements on election day.
Regarding international flights, regular operations will continue to all destinations except those in Middle Eastern countries.
For Middle Eastern destinations, flight operations will depend on the prevailing situation in the respective countries, decisions taken by the concerned authorities, and the operational status of airports there. Flights to those regions will only operate according to revised schedules determined by the airlines. CAAN has noted that due to the recent developments in the Middle East, flights to those destinations have been temporarily suspended.
While stricter measures are expected in road transportation during the election period, CAAN’s decision is likely to provide convenience to passengers traveling by air.
