Former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has stated that Nepal cannot connect with the world until political restructuring takes place. Speaking at the grand unification announcement of the Progressive Democratic Party today, he emphasized that the demands raised by the “Gen Z” generation must be addressed for the country to move forward in alignment with global trends.
Highlighting that the country is still not on an easy path, Dr. Bhattarai stressed the need for everyone’s cooperation to create a conducive environment. He noted that the newly formed Progressive Democratic Party should advance by balancing both individual rights and social considerations. As a senior leader of the party, he committed to acting as a guardian and providing guidance and support to those in executive roles.
Former Minister Ram Karki said that the party’s campaign will continue whether or not elections are held. He also stated that the new party aims to reform policies across sectors such as education, transportation, and agriculture.
Karki further urged the “Gen Z” generation to provide suggestions for replacing leadership whose tenure has ended. He emphasized that Marxism requires self-criticism and noted that those lacking this quality cannot truly be Marxists.
Former Minister Janardan Sharma presented the party’s commitment charter during the program. The charter includes establishing a National Development Authority under the executive head, launching a major campaign against corruption, and ensuring consistency in speech and behavior.
Former Minister Sudan Kirati stated that his party has moved beyond the communist framework while retaining its essence, and now represents the broad spectrum of the nation’s people.
Leader Santosh Pariyar, who chaired the announcement program, said the party intends to move forward by including those who wish to work with new energy and momentum.
