Dr Ramji Ram has been included in the proportional representation candidate list of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). He has been placed fourth under the Dalit quota.
Thirty-year-old Ram was born into a modest Chamar family in Gadhimai Municipality–9 of Rautahat. Growing up amid poverty and caste-based discrimination, he overcame immense hardship to complete his MBBS studies and became the first doctor from his community.
He is currently serving at a government hospital and is working at Chandranigahapur Hospital, carrying the dream of becoming a psychiatrist. He has also emerged as a source of inspiration for children from the Dalit community.
Recalling the difficulties he faced during his own educational journey, he launched an ambitious initiative with the aim of ensuring that other children do not have to endure similar hardships.
Under the program named the “Samaya Shiksha Abhiyan,” Dr Ram has established seven tuition centers in different villages of Rautahat. More than 500 children are receiving free education at these centers in morning and evening shifts.
Following the Gen Z movement of 23 and 24 Bhadra and the subsequent formation of the government, his name had also been discussed as a potential candidate for the post of Minister of Health.
