Police have received permission to keep Durga Prasai, coordinator of the “Nation, Nationality, Religion and Culture Protection Campaign,” in custody for at least four days.
The District Administration Office Kathmandu granted permission to detain Prasai for investigation on charges of spreading rumors during the election period and committing offenses against public peace and security.
Kathmandu Police Chief Ramesh Thapa said approval has been obtained to keep him in custody and proceed with further investigation. Police arrested him from Thimi on Monday evening and brought him to the District Police Range Kathmandu.
Earlier as well, police had arrested Prasai on charges of spreading rumors, but he was later released on bail.
