Medical professional and activist Durga Prasai has warned that the sacrifice of Gen-Z is being betrayed. He made the comment while preparations were reportedly underway to form an interim government led by Sushila Karki.
Prasai asked: if we must accept the same constitution, the same parliament, the same president and the same system, then why was the Gen-Z movement carried out? “The sacrifice of Gen-Z must not be betrayed. If the constitution is this, the parliament is this, the president is this, and the system is this, then why was the movement done? Why were those little children killed?” he questioned. “Why was state property worth more than 50 kharba destroyed? Who will account for the tears and blood of the Gen-Z families?”
Saying the responsibility to save the nation now rests with the army, Prasai demanded suspension of the president and the constitution and asked that the army declare an interim government. “Today the responsibility to save the nation has again fallen on the shoulders of the Nepalese Army. The army should suspend both the president and the constitution and declare an interim government,” he said. “Otherwise, the sacrifice and blood of our ancestors and innocent children will curse us, our generation will be condemned, and eventually we may not be able to live in this country.”
Below is Prasai’s Facebook post (translated):
“The sacrifice of Gen-Z must not be betrayed. Constitution this? Parliament this? President this? System this? If all are the same, then why was the movement carried out? Why were those little children murdered? Why was state property worth more than 50 kharba destroyed? Who will take account of the tears and blood of Gen-Z families?
Yesterday, under western design, a new constitution was proclaimed — the Hindu nation disappeared, the country was made secular, and everyone together plundered the state. His Majesty King Prithvi Narayan Shah and the Nepalese Army unified this country. That is why today again the responsibility to save the nation lies on the shoulders of the Nepalese Army. The army should suspend both the president and the constitution and declare an interim government. Otherwise, the sacrifice and blood of our ancestors and innocent children will curse us, our generation will be damned, and ultimately we may not be able to remain in this country.
Time is short — everyone must think now. Successful movements around the world have never recognized old constitutions; new systems are born through new constitutions.”
