
An elderly couple in Rolpa district has died after consuming poisonous wild mushrooms. According to the Lumbini Province Police Office in Dang, 81-year-old Bhagirama Oli and his 73-year-old wife Narmala Oli of Bhalkha, Parivartan Rural Municipality–2, died following mushroom poisoning.
The couple fell ill after eating mushrooms Bhagirama had collected from his field on Tuesday. They were initially treated at a local medical center but were later referred to Rapti Academy of Health Sciences in Dang after their condition worsened. Narmala died on Saturday, while Bhagirama passed away on Sunday, their son Man Bahadur confirmed.
Police said the bodies have been kept at the Academy for post-mortem examination.
