The Election Commission has stated that it is fully prepared to hold elections on schedule. Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari said the commission is rapidly advancing its preparations for the upcoming polls.
Speaking at a program organized to welcome the newly appointed Minister for Home, Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Om Prakash Aryal, Bhandari reiterated the commission’s commitment to timely elections. He confirmed that necessary preparations have already begun, all district and provincial election offices are ready, and staff have been deployed.
Bhandari emphasized ensuring a conducive environment for all registered political parties and independent candidates to campaign freely and present their views. He noted that attention will be paid to competitive procurement and management of materials to ensure a clean, fair, and fear-free election. “We will not allow any doubts to arise regarding the integrity of the Election Commission,” he said.
However, he acknowledged that the country’s security situation remains challenging, with some security posts and Chief District Officer offices damaged in certain areas. Bhandari added that the government’s prompt issuance of an ordinance would remove legal obstacles and facilitate voter registration and other election activities. The commission expressed its commitment to conducting cost-effective and credible elections in collaboration with all stakeholders.
