
In Sauraha, the main tourist city of Chitwan, an elephant feast program was organized. The event aimed to promote forest and environmental conservation as well as local tourism, offering a special feast to elephants.
Both privately owned and government elephants were gathered at the Baghmara Buffer Zone Community Forest for the group feast, which attracted thousands of spectators.
During the event, elephants were served a cake made from rice and molasses, along with a variety of treats including sugarcane, sugar, chickpeas, pumpkins, dragon fruit, apples, bananas, and melons. A total of 60 elephants participated in the gathering.
The feast began with Chitwan National Park’s Chief Conservation Officer, Dr. Ganesh Pant, feeding a cake made of sugar and fruits to an elephant calf.
