The second meeting of the Emergency Response Team formed under the coordination of Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai was held on Wednesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nepal.
The meeting reviewed the efforts and progress made so far by the government to ensure the safety and protection of Nepali citizens living in West Asian countries.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nepal, the meeting decided to continue coordination and initiatives necessary to ensure the safety of Nepali nationals. It also agreed to study the possibility of operating evacuation flights and to provide assistance to those who have contacted Nepal’s missions through the emergency control room.
Tensions in West Asia have escalated after the United States and Israel launched joint airstrikes against Iran on Falgun 21. Many Nepali citizens are currently working in various countries in the region.
