Emory University in Atlanta, USA, has expelled Fatima Ardeshir Larijani, daughter of Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
Fatima Larijani was working in Emory’s cancer research department. Recently, Iranian government critics have been protesting outside the university campus, demanding her dismissal.
Earlier, U.S. Representative Earl Carter from Georgia wrote to the university administration, urging the termination of Fatima Larijani and revocation of her medical license. In January 2025, the U.S. had also sanctioned Ali Larijani, citing his alleged role in suppressing anti-government protests in Iran and involvement in activities linked to “shadow banking” networks and oil revenue money laundering.
Meanwhile, Iranians living abroad have staged demonstrations in multiple countries in support of nationwide protests in Iran, demanding that foreign governments take action against individuals associated with the Iranian regime.
