Nepal Communist Party leader and former Finance Minister Barshaman Pun has said that the government will lose its legitimacy if elections are not held on the scheduled date.
Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Pun stated that the mandate given under the Constitution clearly requires elections to be held within six months. He argued that if elections are not conducted on the designated date, the government would have no justification to continue.
Pun also rejected arguments suggesting that the election date could be postponed, saying such views lack any logical basis. He emphasized that only by holding elections on time can the country be guided out of its current crisis.
The former finance minister further said that the government must increase capital expenditure to revive the economy. He urged the government to introduce relief measures for private sector industries and businesses that have been damaged by the Gen-Z movement, stressing the need to restore economic momentum.
