The Federal Civil Service Bill has been passed by the National Assembly with amendments. Today’s meeting of the National Assembly unanimously endorsed the bill.
In the session, Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, Bhagwati Nyaulpane, tabled a proposal to pass the Civil Service Bill along with the report of the Legislation Management Committee, which was approved unanimously.
The bill passed by the National Assembly corrects the inconsistency related to the “cooling-off period.”
As per the new provision, any employee who has resigned from or retired from a gazetted special or first-class post of the federal civil service or other government services will not be eligible for appointment to any constitutional, diplomatic, or other government position until a two-year period has elapsed from the date of resignation or retirement.
