The Film Development Board Nepal has announced the opening of applications for the “National and Special Film Awards 2082.”
Issuing a notice on Monday, the board invited submissions from domestic films across various categories under specified criteria.
According to the board, films released for public screening between Baisakh 1, 2082, and the end of Chaitra 2082 are eligible to apply for the National Film Awards. Similarly, films reviewed by the Film Examination Committee within the same period are eligible for the Special Film Awards.
Films representing indigenous, ethnic, and mother-tongue communities that have been reviewed within the stated timeframe are also eligible to participate. However, such films may compete in only one category—either the general National Film Awards or the Indigenous/National Language category—and must have been publicly screened if applying under category-based competition.
Applicants are required to submit a completed application form provided by the board, along with a copy of the producer’s citizenship certificate. Applications may be submitted in person by the producer or an authorized representative, or via the designated email address.
The board has emphasized that all details mentioned in the application must match the credits shown in the film. Films must be narrative in nature, and a consent letter in the prescribed format must be attached. For the Special Film Awards, a brief synopsis of the film is also required.
Additionally, applicants must provide a copy of the film in the format specified by the board for evaluation purposes, which will be returned after review.
The board retains full authority over participation and has stated that further conditions are outlined in the application form. Interested applicants can download the form from the board’s official website or obtain it from the office, and are encouraged to contact the board for any additional information.
