A fire has broken out at the warehouse of Mahashakti Soap Industry located inside the industrial area of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City–8. The fire reportedly started late last night due to a sudden electrical short circuit in the warehouse that had been constructed to store finished soap products and raw materials. As a result, all the soap products, raw materials, and packaging materials stored inside the warehouse were completely destroyed, according to industry manager Prakash Budhathoki.
“It is not possible to immediately ascertain the exact amount of damage caused by the fire,” Budhathoki said. “Only after reviewing the records can the actual loss be confirmed. However, none of the items stored in the warehouse could be saved; everything has been reduced to ashes. Looking at the situation, the estimated loss could be around NPR 100 to 120 million.”
Budhathoki added that although security agencies were informed immediately after the fire broke out around midnight and efforts were made to extinguish it, the fire could not be brought under control quickly, resulting in greater damage. According to Makwanpur District Police Office spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police Pushkar Bogati, the fire was brought under control a short while ago through the joint efforts of two fire engines from Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City, teams from Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, and local residents.
