The First Nepalgunj Mayor Cup National Badminton Tournament–2082 is set to begin on Friday. Organized by the Banke District Badminton Association, the tournament will run on Chaitra 13 and 14 at the covered hall of Nepalgunj Rangashala Covered Hall.
The event is being held with financial support from Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City and co-sponsorship from HCRC Hospital. Four categories are included in the competition:
Men’s Doubles B Level (Open)
Men’s Doubles C Level
Veterans Doubles Open (45+ years)
Government Employees Category
According to coach and international badminton player Anil Lakhe, these categories aim to encourage participation across skill levels and age groups.
Tournament coordinator Dr. Kumar San Shah said around 200 players from across the country are expected to participate. The organizers have announced a total cash prize of approximately NPR 450,000 across the four categories.
The matches will be conducted by the technical team of the Nepal Badminton Association.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for Friday morning and will be inaugurated by Prashant Bista, Mayor of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City, and Dil Kumar Tamang, Chief District Officer of Banke.
