Five individuals included in the proportional representation closed list of the CPN-UML have submitted applications to the party requesting the removal of their names.
Among them, two have sought to withdraw their names after preparing to contest the National Assembly elections. Som Portel from Koshi Province and Lila Bhandari from Sudurpaschim Province have submitted applications to the party to be considered as National Assembly candidates.
Similarly, one individual has requested removal from the closed list, citing their current employment in government service. The reasons for the withdrawal requests from the remaining two individuals have not been made public.
CPN-UML Election Department Chief Niraj Acharya confirmed that applications have been received from five individuals seeking removal from the proportional representation closed list. He stated that, in line with the Election Commission’s schedule, the party will proceed with the necessary process and request the Commission to make corrections to the list.
According to the Election Commission’s published schedule, corrections to inclusive group details and other information in the proportional representation list can be made until Poush 27.
