Regular flights have resumed at Resunga Airport in Gulmi after being suspended for more than one and a half months due to adverse weather conditions. Nepal Airlines Corporation restarted services on Friday, marking the end of the closure since July 25 (Shrawan 10).
According to Airport Chief Prashant Gautam, flights had been grounded for nearly 45 days due to monsoon weather, but with recent improvements, operations have restarted. Seasonal disruptions are common at Resunga Airport, especially during the months of Asar and Shrawan, when poor weather often hampers flights.
To address passenger demand, four flights per week have been scheduled. Flights will operate on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The schedule sets departure from Kathmandu at 6:10 a.m. and the return flight from Resunga at 7:10 a.m.
Resunga Airport provides a direct air link between Gulmi and Kathmandu, significantly improving connectivity for locals and boosting tourism in the district. Ticket fares have been set at Rs 7,300 from Resunga to Kathmandu and Rs 7,500 for the Kathmandu–Resunga route, Gautam confirmed.
Nepal Airlines’ Twin Otter aircraft has been operating regular flights to Resunga since May 12, 2023 (Baisakh 29, 2080). Built at a cost of over Rs 350 million, the airport features a 520-meter-long and 20-meter-wide runway, spread across 156 ropani of land. For its construction, 14 households were displaced and land was acquired from 28 families with compensation.
