
Continuous rainfall has caused flooding from the Mai River in various wards of Jhapa Rural Municipality and Shivasatakshi Municipality, displacing hundreds of families, police reported.
In Jhapa Rural Municipality Ward No. 2, Suga Bathan, floodwaters entered the village, displacing 56 households. They were rescued and relocated to a nearby school, according to the District Police Office, Jhapa.
Flooding has also affected Wards No. 1, 6, and 7 of Jhapa Rural Municipality, with dozens of families at risk of displacement. In Shivasatakshi Municipality Wards No. 4, 5, 6, and 7, around 350 households have been affected by the flood. Police and local authorities are working to relocate the affected residents to safe locations.
Due to continuous rainfall, the East-West Highway in Mechi Municipality Ward No. 6, Kalikhola, has been blocked by floodwaters. In Shivasatakshi Ward No. 10, flood damage to a humpipe on the Sukuna River has disrupted traffic on the highway.
Additionally, 25 houses in Bhadrapur Municipality Ward No. 6 have been submerged. Residents from these homes have been taken to safe places by their relatives.
