Former King Gyanendra Shah is scheduled to visit India this week. Sources indicate that Shah, currently in Jhapa, will first travel to Janakpur before departing for India.
The purpose of his visit has not been disclosed. Former King Shah has previously traveled to India for religious, family, and other private meetings.
With Nepal’s election atmosphere intensifying, his visit to India is being observed with particular interest. In recent weeks, other political leaders—including CPN Chairman Prachanda, Congress leader Arju Rana, Baburam Bhattarai, and Rastriya Swatantra Party Vice-Chair Swarnim Wagle—have also traveled to India.
