Former President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has urged Prime Minister Sushila Karki to conduct the upcoming elections on the declared date in a free, fair, and fear-free manner.
According to Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel, who shared details of the meeting held on Sunday at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar, Bhandari made this request during their discussion.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Karki briefed the former president on the government’s ongoing efforts toward curbing corruption and strengthening good governance.
Minister Kharel stated that former President Bhandari expressed a highly positive view of the government’s work and assured her full support in ensuring timely elections.
Earlier on Sunday, Bhandari visited the damaged structures inside Singha Durbar that were destroyed during the Gen Z movement protests. It was during this visit that the meeting between Prime Minister Karki and the former president took place.
