Former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai is set to contest the House of Representatives election from Gorkha–2. Following discussions with senior local leaders in Gorkha on Sunday, Bhattarai agreed to become a candidate from the Progressive Democratic Party (Pralopa), according to district in-charge Yan Prasad Bhatt (Saroj).
Earlier today, a meeting of Pralopa decided to pursue electoral alliances based on necessity. However, Bhatt said it has not yet been confirmed whether an electoral alliance will be formed in Gorkha–2.
In the Gorkha–2 constituency, the Nepal Communist Party has already nominated Lekhnath Neupane, while the CPN-UML has fielded Chakre Milan as its candidate. The Rastriya Swatantra Party has not yet finalized its candidate.
