Former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai is departing for an official visit to India today. This is his first formal visit to India since the formation of the Progressive Democratic Party following the Gen-Z movement.
According to a statement issued by his secretariat on Sunday morning, during the visit Dr. Bhattarai will hold important discussions with representatives from India’s intellectual, diplomatic, and academic sectors on contemporary issues related to Nepal–India relations, regional cooperation, and democratic practices.
As part of the visit, Dr. Bhattarai will deliver a keynote speech at the Techfest organized by the prestigious IIT Bombay on the topic “South Asia’s Democratic Future: Youth, Technology and Inclusive Democracy.” He will also serve as the keynote speaker at a special program organized by the South Asian Forum for People’s Initiative (SAFPI) at the India International Centre (IIC) in New Delhi.
Dr. Bhattarai is scheduled to return to Nepal on Poush 9. According to a press note issued by his personal secretariat, the visit is expected to further strengthen mutual understanding, friendship, and democratic dialogue between Nepal and India.
