Kathmandu — Police have arrested Karna Bahadur Malla, a leader of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) and former Constituent Assembly member, on charges of rape.
According to the District Police Office Lalitpur, the 52-year-old, originally from Soru Rural Municipality–10 in Mugu and currently residing in Chandragiri Municipality–7, Kathmandu, was पक्राउ on Saturday by a team from the Metropolitan Police Circle Satdobato.
Police said Malla was arrested from Lalitpur Metropolitan City–15 following a complaint filed by a woman accusing him of rape. The arrest was made based on that complaint.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Sudan Gurung had earlier on Saturday conducted an inspection visit to the District Police Office Lalitpur and the Metropolitan Police Circle Satdobato, directing officials to strictly enforce the law.
