Bhatt, a Secretariat Member of the CPN-UML Sudurpaschim Province Committee, had announced his resignation from the UML on Kartik 14 and officially joined the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) today. Bhatt is the younger brother of UML Deputy General Secretary Lekhraj Bhatt.
Previously, Bhatt was active in politics through the Maoist Centre before joining the UML. In 2017, he contested the mayoral election of Godawari Municipality in Kailali but was defeated. He again ran for the same position in the 2022 local elections but was unsuccessful.
Announcing his entry into the RSP, Bhatt wrote on social media that after a 46-year-long political journey, he aims to take his political career to a new height and lead honest and innocent villagers who have long been deceived by false promises of various political leaders. He stated that he has formally joined the Rastriya Swatantra Party, a party loved by the people, to lead the great journey of building a new Nepal, and requested brothers, sisters, and well-wishers to be present and extend their support.
