Paying tribute to Nepali Congress leader and former minister Mohammad Aftab Alam, four municipalities in Rautahat announced a day of mourning today.
Rajpur Municipality, Paroha Municipality, Ishnath Municipality, and Baudhimai Municipality each issued separate notices declaring Sunday a mourning day across their respective jurisdictions.
The municipalities expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and paid tribute to the late leader.
Senior Nepali Congress leader and former minister Alam passed away on Friday night while undergoing treatment at Kathmandu Medical College.
Alam was regarded as one of the influential leaders of the party for a long time.
Through the public notices, the municipalities informed that offices and subordinate bodies remained closed on Sunday in observance of the mourning period.
