Vehicle movement for four-wheelers has been halted at the Sharda Barrage in Kanchanpur after a rise in water levels in the Mahakali River. The continuous rainfall has led to a surge in the river’s flow, prompting authorities to impose the restriction, according to District Police Office Kanchanpur spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police Sagar Bohara.
“Vehicle movement is halted once the water flow in the Mahakali River crosses 100,000 cusecs,” said Bohara. “This morning at 8 AM, the water flow reached 109,980 cusecs, leading to the restriction.”
The decision was made in view of public safety as heavy water discharge poses a risk to vehicular movement across the barrage.
