The funeral procession of Bipin Joshi, a Nepali citizen killed in Israel, has begun. The procession started a short while ago from Bhasi in Bhimdutta Municipality.
Three representatives, including the Israeli Ambassador to Nepal, are participating in the funeral procession. Joshi will be cremated with national honors according to Hindu religious traditions at Bhujela Ghat on the banks of the Mahakali River.
According to Kanchanpur Police spokesperson DSP Sagar Bohara, the Armed Police Force will present a guard of honor to pay tribute to Joshi.
Joshi had gone to Israel for his studies and was taken hostage during the Hamas attack on the Kibbutz area on October 7, 2023. His status had remained unknown until Israeli authorities confirmed his death on October 13 this year.
His body was brought to Nepal from Israel on Monday. The Nepal Army transported the body to his hometown in Kanchanpur on Monday evening using a Sky Truck aircraft.
