Nepali Congress Chair Gagan Thapa, elected through the party’s special general convention, has said that the party has not split and that only the leadership has changed.
Speaking after visiting the Election Commission to update the party’s records, Chair Thapa said he is confident that the commission will update the records in line with the decisions taken by the special general convention, including the leadership change. He reiterated that the party remains united.
Thapa said that since the general convention is the party’s highest decision-making body, the Election Commission has been informed about the decisions taken by it, and that they have requested the commission to make a prompt decision. He added that there was no two-way discussion with Election Commission officials today, but expressed confidence that the records would be updated by the latest by the day after tomorrow.
Vice Chair Bishwaprakash Sharma and other leaders were also present at the Election Commission along with Thapa.
