Gen-Z activist Miraj Dhungana has announced the formation of a new political party. Speaking at a press conference held in Kathmandu on Saturday, Dhungana said that he and his team are preparing to establish a political party.
He claimed that the party is not being formed just to participate in elections. He stated that they would not take part in any election until their “bottom line” demands are fulfilled by the government. According to him, a directly elected executive system is their major agenda. He said the new party is being formed to unite Gen-Z activists.
He said, “Without fulfilling the bottom line, we are not ready to go to elections. The issue of a directly elected executive is one of our bottom lines and it must be heard. Without that, we will not go anywhere. Forming a party does not mean contesting elections. It is only to move forward in an organized way instead of remaining scattered and confused. If we are to be official, we must be capable. Either I should open an NGO for the development of the country or a political party—otherwise, it’s just a crowd.”
He added that the name of the new party will be finalized after discussions with everyone.
