Young people of the Gen Z generation staged a protest today at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu against government corruption, administrative disorder, and the recent decision to block social media platforms.
The spontaneously organized group did not allow any affiliated student or youth wings of political parties to participate in the program. Protesters carried placards with slogans such as “Gen Z Shouts, Harass the Corrupt”. Some participants were seen wearing their school and college uniforms during the demonstration.
What was previously limited to online expression of anger against the government and political leaders has now taken to the streets, with Gen Z openly voicing their dissent. The movement has also received support from political leaders, representatives, artists, professionals, and independent youth.
