GenZ activist Miraj Dhungana has urged Prime Minister Sushila Karki not to disrespect the GenZ movement.
Speaking at the Kathmandu District Police Range—where he had gone to demand the release of fellow GenZ activist Prakash Sharma—Dhungana said that they do not expect the post-election government to deliver any significant development for the country.
He expressed concern over the possibility of leaders from traditional political parties returning to power. Dhungana also stated that since the interim government has failed in driving national development, Prime Minister Karki should resign. He accused the interim government of being “hijacked” and said that the demands of GenZ youths have not been addressed.
GenZ youth activist Prakash Sharma also stated that he has been involved in pasting posters demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister and Home Minister, citing the government’s failure to meet the movement’s demands.
Sharing his experience of being arrested on Saturday evening, Sharma said that although the interim government was formed based on the strength of the GenZ movement, it has not fulfilled their expectations. He added that police arrested only the youths involved in the August 24 protest, while failing to investigate the incidents of the August 23 demonstration.
