At a meeting of GenZ representatives held at the Army Headquarters, a proposal was made to form a civilian government under the leadership of Sushil Karki.
The proposal has been forwarded to Chief of Army Staff Ashokraj Sigdel. A senior military officer said, “They mentioned the name of the Honorable [Karki], but discussions are still ongoing with another group as well.” The Army has indicated it will also hold talks with former Chief Justice Karki.
Throughout Wednesday, GenZ youths held discussions on Discord about who should lead them, where strong support emerged in favor of Karki. Many youths also proposed Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah, though some complained he has not been in contact. On Tuesday evening, Shah had posted a status urging GenZ to be ready for talks with the Army Chief.
On Wednesday morning, GenZ representatives arrived at the Army Headquarters for talks. However, as more than 15 people showed up for the discussion, Army Chief Sigdel asked them to first reach internal consensus and appoint a coordinator. Following this, they held a meeting in one of the rooms at the headquarters.
During the discussions, some participants even put forward proposals against the republican system, prompting Raksha Bam and her group to walk out. Nonetheless, the meeting concluded with an agreement to form a civilian government under the leadership of Karki.
