The government has decided to provide grants for the construction of temporary housing to families who lost their homes in the recent floods and landslides.
The decision was made during a meeting of the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management held on Tuesday.
Chaired by Prime Minister and Council Chairperson Sushila Karki, the meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s Office in Singha Durbar and approved seven key decisions, including immediate relief measures for the displaced.
Decision No. 7 states:
“Decision No. 7: Direct the concerned authorities to promptly identify beneficiaries, in coordination with local levels, for families who have lost their homes due to disasters, and once the beneficiaries are confirmed, immediately release the first installment of the grant as per the ‘Temporary Housing Construction Grant Guidelines, 2081.’”
This initiative aims to ensure that disaster-affected families receive timely support for rebuilding their temporary shelters and restoring basic living conditions.
