The government has appointed Suman Raj Aryal as the new Chief Secretary. The Cabinet meeting held on Monday at Singha Durbar decided to appoint Aryal as the 28th Chief Secretary, effective from Wednesday.
Aryal previously served as the Defence Secretary. With the current Chief Secretary, Ek Narayan Aryal, completing his term at midnight tomorrow, the government has made the new appointment.
Suman Raj Aryal will remain in service until 26 Ashadh 2083. After that, he will retire upon reaching the mandatory age limit of 58 years. Although several other secretaries were in contention for the position, Aryal was senior to them by five months. He was promoted to Secretary on 19 Magh 2077.
He became the Chief Secretary around two and a half months before the end of his secretary-level tenure.
