
The Government of Nepal has decided to recall its ambassadors from 11 countries.
According to Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel, today’s Cabinet meeting decided to recall Nepali residential ambassadors from China, Germany, Israel, Malaysia, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Japan by November 5 (Kartik 20).
Those currently serving in these countries are Professor Dr. Krishna Prasad Oli in China, Dr. Shail Rupakheti in Germany, Professor Dhan Prasad Pandit in Israel, Dr. Netra Prasad Timilsina in Malaysia, Ramesh Chandra Paudel in Qatar, Jang Bahadur Chauhan in Russia, Naresh Bikram Dhakal in Saudi Arabia, Sunil Nepal in Spain, Chandra Kumar Ghimire in the United Kingdom, Lok Darshan Regmi in the United States, and Dr. Durga Bahadur Subedi in Japan.
The meeting also decided to accept a grant of 10 million U.S. dollars from the Multi-Donor Trust Fund managed by the World Bank for the Public Financial Management Project.
Similarly, the government decided to establish two joint venture companies in Nepal and India for the construction of the Inaruwa–Purnia and Dodhara–Bareilly 400 kV cross-border transmission lines under the joint investment of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and India’s Power Grid Corporation Limited (PGCIL). The Cabinet approved the NEA’s equity investment of one billion and two billion Nepali rupees, respectively, in these companies, according to spokesperson Kharel.
The meeting approved the mutual legal assistance treaty between Nepal and India and also authorized negotiations to conclude similar treaties on criminal matters with other countries as needed, through diplomatic channels.
The Cabinet approved the master plan of the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur and designated it as a national priority project. It also approved the initiation of the procurement process and tender invitations for the remaining works under the plan. Minister Kharel stated that the project is being advanced in line with Nepal’s growing success in cricket.
Furthermore, the government decided to promote Jitendra Babu Thapaliya, Registrar of the Nepal Judicial Service, to the Gazetted Special Class and appoint him as Secretary of the Judicial Council. Likewise, Acting Deputy Attorney General Uddhav Prasad Pudasaini has been promoted to the Special Class and appointed as Secretary of the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons (CIEDP).
