The Government of Nepal has instructed health institutions and hospitals to provide details of those injured during the Gen Z protests.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, said that all health institutions involved in treating injured individuals during the Gen Z movement have been directed to immediately submit the details of any previously unreported injured persons to the ministry.
According to him, the directive was issued following a decision by a coordination committee formed to ensure effective treatment and relief for the injured. The committee decided that the details of the injured must be submitted by Falgun 15. In line with this, the ministry has asked all health institutions to provide the required information between Falgun 1 and 15 to complete the listing, classification, and reclassification of the injured within the stipulated time.
Dr. Budhathoki informed that applications received by Falgun 15 will be investigated, after which the final list of injured individuals will be made public.
So far, classification details of only 200 injured individuals have been received. He noted that although many people were injured during the Gen Z protests, those with minor injuries may not have come forward, as they are not eligible for certain benefits.
The government has decided to provide a monthly allowance of NPR 9,000 to those classified as critically injured and to those caring for them, NPR 9,000 to seriously injured individuals, and NPR 4,000 to those moderately injured.
According to ministry data, a total of 2,599 people were injured during the Gen Z protests.
