The government has extended the tenure of the commission formed to investigate the incidents of Bhadau 23 and 24 by an additional 20 days. The decision was made during the Cabinet meeting held on Thursday.
The Cabinet approved a 20-day extension for the commission led by former Justice Gauri Bahadur Karki. Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal informed that the commission had requested additional time as the report writing process has not yet been completed.
Earlier, the government had already extended the commission’s term by one month, during which statements of all senior officials were recorded.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet has also assigned the responsibility of government spokesperson to Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal. The spokesperson’s post had remained vacant after former Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel resigned in order to contest the House of Representatives election.
