The negotiations between the Government of Nepal and representatives of the Gen-Z movement have concluded with a finalized draft of a 16-point agreement.
Formal signing of the agreement has been scheduled for Wednesday. The draft was completed following intensive discussions among officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Law, and representatives of the Gen-Z movement.
According to the agreement, those who lost their lives during the movement will be declared martyrs as soon as possible. A high-level task force will be formed to address both the immediate and long-term needs of the martyr families and the injured.
No criminal investigation or prosecution will be carried out against individuals involved in political protest activities related to the movement. The draft further mentions ending political and policy-level corruption, as well as stopping the practice of politicizing public institutions and making appointments based on partisan quotas.
Prime Minister Sushila Karki is expected to attend the agreement-signing ceremony.
