The government has decided to withdraw the Social Media Bill, 2081, which is currently under consideration in the Federal Parliament. In a National Assembly session scheduled for Friday at 1:15 PM, Prime Minister and Minister for Communication and Information Technology Sushila Karki is set to present a proposal for the bill’s withdrawal.
The Cabinet had approved the decision to pull back the bill in its meeting last Tuesday. The bill, registered in the 17th session of the National Assembly, was under discussion in the Legislative Management Committee.
Proposal to Pass Forensic Science Laboratory Bill
In the same session, Prime Minister Karki will also propose the passage of the National Forensic Science Laboratory (Establishment and Operation) Bill, 2081. Before the proposal, the bill will be discussed along with the Legislative Management Committee’s report, according to the Parliament Secretariat.
Other Agenda Items
Maya Prasad Sharma, Chairperson of the Public Policy and Assigned Legislation Committee, will present a proposal to discuss the Study Report on Policy Issues Related to National Parks, 2082.
Additionally, the Legislative Management Committee will hold a clause-by-clause discussion on the Intangible Cultural Heritage (Conservation) Bill, 2081 at 11:00 AM today.
