The scheduled hearing at Bench No. 3 of the Patan High Court in Butwal on the Supreme Cooperative fraud case involving jailed Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) president Rabi Lamichhane and former Gorkha Media operator Chhabilal Joshi has once again been postponed.
According to court information officer Ram Bahadur Kunwar, Lamichhane’s legal team submitted a request seeking postponement, after which the hearing was halted.
Earlier hearings had also been repeatedly deferred due to reasons such as the main charge sheet not arriving from the Supreme Court or scheduling overlaps in other courts.
Both Lamichhane and Joshi have been charged with a collective fraud amount of Rs. 10 crore 99 lakh 36 thousand in the cooperative scam. Although they deposited Rs. 2 crore 74 lakh 84 thousand each as bank guarantee for their share, they could not be released because their individual liability has not been clearly determined.
Lamichhane is currently held at Nakkhu Prison, Lalitpur, while Joshi remains in Bhairahawa Prison.
