A hearing has been scheduled on Monday for the habeas corpus petition concerning medical practitioner Durga Prasai. The case will be heard by a bench of Supreme Court Justices Nahakul Subedi and Meghraj Pokhrel.
Earlier, a single bench of Justice Shrikant Paudel had ordered Prasai to appear in court and instructed authorities to present the reasons for her arrest. The habeas corpus petition was filed by Uma Prasai on behalf of Durga Prasai.
Previously, on Magh 23, Prasai was released on bail after being arrested. At that time, the police had taken her statement regarding her remarks on the upcoming elections and then released her.
Authorities have repeatedly arrested Prasai over concerns that she might launch a campaign to disrupt the elections scheduled for Falgun 21. She was also briefly detained on Magh 5 in Pokhara, where the police recorded her statement before releasing her.
