Continuous rainfall and subsequent floods and landslides have caused serious disruptions on several major highways across the country. According to the latest update from Nepal Police, at least six key road sections in Koshi Province and Bagmati Province remain completely blocked.
In Koshi Province, four major routes are closed due to continuous rainfall. Sections of the Koshi Highway at Bhotkhola Rural Municipality–4 (Barunkhola section) and Makalu Rural Municipality–3 (Ekuwa section) are fully obstructed. Similarly, in Ilam district, roads under the Mechi Highway, including Ilam Municipality–9 (Rajduwali area), have been shut down due to heavy rain. The Tamor Corridor at Tumbewa Rural Municipality–2 (Nabakhola section) is also blocked.
In Bagmati Province, two main road sections have been disrupted by landslides. The Pasang Lhamu Highway in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality–2 is blocked in three different locations. Likewise, landslides at Roshi Rural Municipality–11 (Mamikhola, Dolabesi, Bulbudha, and nearby areas) have completely closed the BP Highway.
With transportation halted, both long-distance and short-distance passengers are facing significant hardships. Nepal Police reported that heavy machinery and manpower have been deployed to clear the debris and reopen the affected roadways as soon as possible.
