The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has warned of very heavy rainfall in some districts after Dashain. Issuing a special weather bulletin on Tuesday, the department stated that widespread rainfall is expected from October 3 to 5 (Ashwin 17–19), urging the public to remain cautious.
Weather Analysis
Currently, the influence of the monsoon over Nepal has weakened. However, a low-pressure system developed over the Bay of Bengal is moving inland through Odisha, India, toward central India. Due to this system, moisture-laden monsoon winds are expected to enter Nepal, becoming active particularly from Ashwin 17 (Ekadashi), affecting Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces. Thus, monsoon conditions will remain throughout the Dashain period, and are likely to become more active towards the end of the festival.
