The High Court Patan has ordered the release of medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai on bail. A division bench comprising Chief Judge Sudarshan Dev Bhatt and Judge Munendra Prasad Awasthi issued the order requiring Prasai to be released on a bail amount of NPR 2.5 million.
The court granted the bail in connection with a banking offense case. The order states:
“The defendant Durga Prasad Prasai shall be placed on trial date (tarekh) after depositing NPR 25,00,000 (in words: twenty-five lakh rupees) either in cash or as a bank guarantee. If the required bail amount or guarantee is not furnished, the defendant shall be kept in judicial custody in accordance with Section 80 of the same Act, and a detention order shall be issued accordingly for the concerned prison office.”
The order allows Prasai to remain out of jail during the pre-trial process, provided the bail conditions are met.
