Hitendra Shakya has said that justice has won after the Supreme Court ordered his reinstatement as the Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).
Shakya stated that he felt relief after the court corrected the government’s decision, which had deeply hurt him.
He said, “I feel relieved by the court’s decision. I am committed to working for the country, the people, and the Authority according to my ability and responsibility.”
Earlier, after Kulman Ghising became Energy Minister, the government had transferred Shakya to the Water and Energy Commission on Ashoj 5, appointing Manoj Silwal as the new Executive Director of the NEA. Shakya had filed a petition at the Supreme Court challenging the government’s move.
A joint bench of Justices Nahakul Subedi and Srikanta Paudel on Monday ruled in Shakya’s favor, ordering his reinstatement.
The court concluded that Shakya had been removed from his position in a prejudiced, retaliatory, and arbitrary manner.
