Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has pledged maximum efforts to save lives amid the cholera outbreak reported in Birgunj, Parsa.
Speaking during his visit to Narayani Hospital on Saturday night to assess the situation of patients suffering from diarrhea and cholera, Minister Lekhak said the government is fully prepared to respond.
“Since a cholera outbreak has been detected, the government is ready to do everything necessary to protect citizens’ lives,” he said. “We will not allow any shortage of medicines or doctors.”
He also assured coordination and facilitation to mobilize nursing staff and other health workers as needed. “We are working proactively to control the outbreak,” he added, emphasizing the need for all sectors to play a supportive role in coordination and awareness against the cholera virus.
After meeting cholera-affected patients and their families at Narayani Hospital, Minister Lekhak stated that many admitted patients were recovering. “Treatment is being carried out with the available resources, and the number of cholera patients is gradually declining,” he noted.
He further highlighted that the number of patients being discharged after recovery has significantly increased.
