The Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to form a committee to investigate the recent bus accident in Dhading. The decision was made during a meeting held at the ministry on Monday following the tragic incident on Sunday night.
According to Joint Spokesperson Rama Acharya, discussions were held among Home Minister Om Prakash Sharma, the Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure, the Director General of the Department of Roads, representatives of the Transport Entrepreneurs’ Federation, chiefs of all three security agencies, and other concerned authorities. The meeting concluded with a decision to establish a probe committee to investigate the incident.
The bus (registration number Ga 2 Kha 1421), which was traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu, fell off the road and plunged toward the bank of the Trishuli River at Bhaisey Gauda in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality–5, Dhading, at around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday night.
The accident claimed the lives of 18 people. According to police, 22 injured passengers are currently undergoing treatment at the National Trauma Center in Kathmandu, National Medical College in Kalanki, and a teaching hospital in Malekhu.
