Illegal goods brought in through the Korala border point in Upper Mustang have been seized. A joint patrol team comprising the Mustang Customs Office at Nhechung in Lomanthang–4 Chhoser, the Armed Police Force Nepal, and the Area Police Office Chhoser confiscated illegal items worth NPR 117,000.
According to District Police Office Information Officer and Police Inspector Santosh Basyal, the seized goods have been handed over to the customs office. Earlier, on Poush 27, illegal electronic cigarettes (vapes) worth NPR 22.4 million were recovered from a cargo container held at the Korala border point. Similarly, on Poush 20, vapes worth NPR 68.1 million being smuggled towards Jomsom were seized.
Security agencies have intensified regular patrols in border areas as illegal activities tend to increase during the winter season.
