
India edged past Sri Lanka in a thrilling Super Over during the final Super Four match of the T20 Asia Cup 2025 held on Friday night. India had already secured a spot in the final and will now face Pakistan in the title clash on Sunday.
In the match played in Dubai, India batted first and scored 202/5. Abhishek Sharma top-scored with a superb 61 runs, while Tilak Varma contributed a solid 49.
Chasing the target, Sri Lanka matched India’s total, also finishing on 202/5, forcing the game into a Super Over. Opener Pathum Nissanka was the hero for Sri Lanka, smashing a brilliant 107 off just 58 balls, including 7 fours and 6 sixes. This was Nissanka’s maiden T20 International century, earning him the Player of the Match award.
However, his heroics were not enough to secure victory. In the Super Over, Arshdeep Singh restricted Sri Lanka to just 2 runs, after which Suryakumar Yadav sealed India’s win by scoring the required runs off the very first ball.
